Gcomm -- GTK communications program

This web page describes my communications program.

Features:

• Supports Serial ports, direct network connections and pipes to other programs.
• Similar to Seyon, but with better upload/download capabilities, and a better (IMHO) user interface.
• Based on GTK (Gimp ToolKit) library.

Initial GUI layout done with Glade -- full working GUI only took a few hours. I highly recommend this GUI builder.

History

The original version of gcomm was written years ago using an X toolkit which I wrote myself. I finally decided that writing your own toolkit is a dead-end proposition and abandoned the project, along with the apps I had written that used it.

When I decided to learn GTK, I chose to rewrite gcomm as my my first program. I am very happy with the results, and the finished program is available on the gcomm project page.
